Praying Is. . . A Poem

Women Praying-
Praying together with others strengthens our love and bond with the LORD.

Praying is. . .

God pulling me close,
Drawing me,
Guiding my
heart away from this troubled earth,
to see things above.

Praying is. . .

. . . Desiring
His will to be done
in this place—
as in Heaven—
When my world turns upside down
and life makes no sense.

Praying is. . .

Acknowledging Him,
my stronghold,
my safe place.
For in my day of trouble
I will run to Him.

BUT. . .

There are times
When I am confused:
No response
to prayers
Poured out with tears and anguish!
Did I pray amiss?

Like a raft
On the white-water,
rushing down
the river—
Life’s journey is treacherous.
There seems no escape.

Praying is. . .

Frightened cries
Piercing the air.
“Where is God?”
Does He hear?
How long will He hide from me?
How long must I wait?”

Praying is. . .

Calling in the dark.
“Light my way,
give me hope.
Make this crooked pathway straight.
Shine Your grace on me.”

Praying is. . .

My resting.
Placing trust in Christ;
Choosing Him.
At His throne
we kneel, waiting for His help—
Assured of His grace.

Verses from the Bible that informed my poem.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
“The LORD . . . He hears the prayer of the righteous.” (Proverbs 15:29)
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD and HE delights in his way.” (Psalm 37:23)
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,
In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and He shall direct your paths.” (Prov.3:5-6)
“Consider the work of God, For who can make straight what He has made crooked. . .” (Ecclesiastes 7:13-14)
